FAQ

Tips on Clothing Styles and Accesories:

  • Stay away from light green color since we are using a Green screen to provide different background options. Dark Greens are alright.
  • Very simple garments always photograph best.
  • Turtle necks or V-necks are flattering provided that neither is exaggerated in style. Avoid very wide or particularly deep V-neck garments as well as bulky cowl neck sweaters that completely hide the neck.
  • Long sleeves are essential for all ages, as bare arms call attention to themselves and will overpower the face.
  • Girls being photographed in full length should wear long skirts, pants, or dark stockings in order to keep the eye from being directed toward the legs and away from the face.
  • If feet are to show in the portrait, make certain shoes and stockings are in keeping with the visual intent of the portrait.
  • Boys should have their hair cut about one week before the portrait session. Girls should be photographed whenever they are happiest with their hair in relation to the time it is styled.

How long does it take to get our pictures?
You get your proofs within 2 weeks following picture day. You have another week to order a picture package and return your form to school. The finished photos will be delivered to the school 2-3 weeks later.

Why does it take so long to have the packages delivered?
Our team has to organize each orders. The orders are then sent to our processing lab. It takes about 7-10 days to produce all the prints. Then our team packages and delivers the packages to your school.

How long does it take to photograph each class?
Using an average class of 25 students as an example, it will take approximately 10 minutes for each kindergarten to grade 2, about 10-15 minutes each for grades 2nd through 8th and about 5 minutes in switching classes. . We can photograph up to 300 students per day.

How should the students line up for their pictures?
If we are taking the traditional class photo, the photographer will arrange the children. All class must come in size order for class picture only. For individual photos please bring them in alphabetically.

How can the school help to run an efficient picture day?
Although we try not to make picture day the school’s responsibility, the day will move along smoother with the school’s help. The school can help by letting us know ahead of time if a particular schedule needs to be followed.
PTA can assist with having parents help make picture day run smoother with the children setup.

What is the best location to have the photographer set up his equipment?
The gym is the ideal place if we are taking both the traditional class photo and individual photos. The photographer sets up two photography areas – one for the class photo and the other for the individual photos. In this scenario the students are first photographed as a class and then individually. If your school goes with the individual pictures only, then all we need for space is an empty classroom (no desks) or a room of similar size. In this scenario we photograph the students individually and don’t need as much room.

Do the staff members have to have their pictures taken?
It is only required if the school requires the optional PSPA standard CD option for yearbook or school memories.

Is there a procedure if retakes are necessary?
We make that available only if school allows it and theres a minimum amount of parents who request it, it’s rarely requested. With each student having 3 poses taken on picture day retakes are not usually necessary. If necessary, free retakes would apply only to technical flaws such as bad lighting and closed eyes in all poses taken. There is a $10 retake fee for any other reason, such as the wrong attire, intentional poor expression or a bad hair day. Proper attire and grooming is the responsibility of the parents & students. Students should bring a comb or brush on picture day. The photographer does his best to make sure that collars and shirts are straight, faces are clean and the student cooperates. Some kids just don’t want their picture taken.

Are the parents obligated to buy pictures?
If we do proofs, parents will see the three pictures taken and there is no obligation to buy a picture package.

How do I pay for pictures before Picture Day?
Prepay option is only for schools who don’t want the proof system. Parent’s will have to send in Prepay form to school paying in Cash or Money Order. In Prepay form there will be a link that parent’s can prepay online with credit card and receive and instant email receipt of their purchase. You will print out and attach to order form. When your child takes a picture on picture day they will hand in order form. If we do proof system for your school there is no prepay.
All children who want to take picture on picture day will take pictures with no payment.

How do I view or buy more pictures?
We have developed an online ordering system that will allow you to preview your child’s picture and select the picture you would like to order with a diverse of backgrounds to choose.
